Troll Lookmovie has the production quality of a Hollywood movie with a significant budget. It belongs in the same category as other kaiju movies like "King Kong" and "Godzilla." The movie makes an effort to be slightly out of the ordinary for Nordic cinema and stand on its own two feet. But aside from providing settings that differ greatly from what Hollywood often depicts, the movie is by no means original. Expectations are swiftly dashed by its massive flaws and blatant borrowing from other movies.
The writing of the movie is the main offender. It has the same issues that Swedish movies typically have with their conversation being wooden, stilted, oniony, and forced. It frequently gives the impression that you are reading something inside, which deprives the movie of authenticity. The film's entertainment value is thus diminished when you also manage to become caught up in the mire of clichés. The performers are tormented by playing their terribly stiff and dull characters because they don't have a chance to make this a wonderful thing. The action scenes in the movie are passable but not exceptional. Despite all of the errors in the movie, it is hard to take the movie seriously. Sometimes it resembles a joke more than an intense drama. You giggle your way through what is given in the movie, which takes a lot of its humour inadvertently. Sadly, the movie has no exciting moments, and by the end, you're just waiting for the predictable resolution to occur so you can stop seeing the suffering.
